Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information S&F Business Consultancy collects, why we collect it, who we share it with and the rights you have over it. It applies when you use this website, contact us, or ask us to find you a better deal on a business service.

Who we are

S&F Business Consultancy is the data controller for the information described here. You can contact us about anything in this policy:

What we collect

  • When you fill in a form on this website: your name, email address, phone number, the services you're interested in and anything you write in your message. We also receive the page you sent it from and your IP address, which help us spot and block spam.
  • To stop repeated spam: our server keeps a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your IP address for up to 15 minutes to limit how many messages can be sent in a short time. It can't be turned back into your IP address.
  • When you call, email or meet us: the details you give us, and notes of what we discuss.
  • When we work for your business: information needed to compare and arrange services, such as your business name and address, the names and contact details of the people we deal with, current bills and contracts, meter or account numbers, usage figures and, for funding, card turnover information.

How we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and arrange calls or appointments. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, or steps you've asked us to take before entering into a contract.
  • To get quotes and arrange services for you with suppliers, providers and funders. Lawful basis: performing our agreement with you, or steps you've asked us to take before one.
  • To keep records we're required to hold for tax, accounting and regulatory purposes. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
  • To protect our website from spam and misuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for automated decision-making. We'll only send you marketing if you've agreed to it, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

  • Suppliers, providers and funders you ask us to get quotes from or move you to, such as energy suppliers, card payment providers, lenders and telecoms companies. We only share what they need to give you a price or set up your service.
  • Our hosting and email provider (Hostinger), which stores this website and delivers form messages to us on our behalf.
  • Professional advisers such as accountants or lawyers, where needed.
  • Regulators, ombudsmen or the police if the law requires it, or to deal with a complaint you've raised.

Third-party content on this website

  • Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google's servers to do this, which shares your IP address with Google.
  • The map on our contact page is provided by Google Maps, which may set its own cookies when the map loads.

Google's use of this information is covered by the Google privacy policy. Apart from this, our website doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't lead to us working together: up to 2 years, then deleted.
  • Client records: for as long as we work together and 6 years afterwards, to meet tax and legal requirements.
  • Anti-spam records of scrambled IP addresses: up to 15 minutes.

Keeping it safe

We use secure (HTTPS) connections on this website, keep email accounts protected with strong passwords and limit access to the people who need it. Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, as UK data protection law requires.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information, or to restrict how we use it
  • object to us using your information on the basis of legitimate interests
  • ask us to transfer information you gave us to another organisation
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it

To use any of these rights, email support@snfbusiness.co.uk. It's free, and we'll reply within one month.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first and we'll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if the way we use personal information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
